Why golfers resist the Dunning-Kruger effect

The Dunning–Kruger effect is the cognitive bias whereby people with low ability at a task overestimate their ability. Every golfer knows about the limitations of his own abilities. Any overestimation of one's game is immediately corrected with humiliating reality. From this aspect, golf should be declared a folk sport. This could actively contribute to the reduction of the dual-burden account since they occur together: the lack of skills and the not knowing of this lack. In the long run, this would produce better golfers and somewhat less reach around knowledge.
